Trump, DeSantis, Pence: Controversy Erupts Over 2024 Presidential Poll and Interview [What Readers Said]

Craig HueyElection, Government, Congress, and Politics

Controversy exploded over last weeks articles, Trump To Run for President: What Do You Think — Will You Support Him or Not? [POLL] and Christians, Trump and Pence — Powerful and Intriguing Interview.

Emotions got hot. Very hot.

Donald Trump announced he was running for president in 2024 and we asked readers to vote in our Presidential Poll.

And Mike Pence is one of a dozen others who also will probably run.

Ron DeSantis. Nikki Haley, Senator Tim Scott,
Governor Glenn Youngkin, Mike Pompeo, and more are exploring the possibility of running in 2024, too.

Some criticized me for even mentioning Pence or DeSantis. But we will be looking at Trump and all the candidates in future issues just like in every other presidential election.

Below are a sampling of emails and poll responses about the Donald Trump article, Trump To Run for President: What Do You Think — Will You Support Him or Not? [POLL] and the Mike Pence interview, Christians, Trump and Pence — Powerful and Intriguing Interview.

Here is what readers said about Donald Trump:

  • I will vote for President Trump over a democratic but hope there is a viable conservative running against him. I had hoped that Donald would become a king maker and not try to be the king. – David
  • How Trump seeks to destroy anyone who might be in completion with him, makes me sick to my stomach. I can’t stand to listen to him. I will not vote for him in the primary. I think he will lose if he runs. Too many hate him. But if it is vote for him or a democrat, I would reluctantly vote for him. – Lois
  • I will definitely vote for President Trump. He has already proven himself to be a good and strong American President. Trump worked hard at being a good president despite the Deep Left Democrats constantly trying to tear him down in every way they could (Nancy P.) Hoo-Ray, she is gone for good… I HOPE. Trump did NOT allow the bought off, corrupt mainstream media run over him, nor did he allow any other dictatorship countrymen to walk over him. Everything good that Trump built up for us, Biden and Obama tore right back down. “So much for Biden’s “Build Back Better.” I must admit Trump should never have promoted the deadly “covid” shots. He did not know the truth about them as so many others also did not know. Trump should know by now though. Trump is a good American man, and he loves his country America and Americans. – Wanda
  • I think we will be in trouble if he runs. I will vote Republican in the main election but will not be voting for Mr. Trump in the primary. – Lisa
  • I would vote for TRUMP from my death bed! – Bill
  • Trump’s no angel but is white as snow beside Killary. DeSantis is only one I’d prefer over Trump. – Dwayne
  • President Trump is an American first and a politician second. Mistakes he makes – yes. But he gets the job done for America. Dems and others have been schooled to hate him. Shame on them. Does he have an ego – yes. But in the end, world leaders know he is tough -and that’s what America needs. For those of you who think he is arrogant, maybe you should ask yourselves what comes first, America or your fragile feelings. He is not afraid to lead the parade – and just remember, no one is perfect. I say God Bless America and somehow, I think God is blessing Trump to get us through a fragile time in our history. We must remember who we are as a people. – Nancy
  • Trump running is important to every other candidate. It’s the only way the candidate can claim the status of being better than Trump. Otherwise, there will be no measure for success. My guess is that Trump would be eager to endorse and support a candidate who beats him in a fair contest. – Bill
  • THIS MEXAMERICAN WILL VOTE FOR TRUMP! DEMOS OUT!!! – Gloria
  • Absolutely… I would vote for Trump. After what our country is going through and still has two more years. I think it’s a tragedy what Biden is doing! – Nancy
  • I won’t be voting for Trump in 2024; I like his positions, but his personality alienates too many of the undecided, and we need as many of them as we can get. I think Ron Decides is a much better choice. – Sonny
  • YES, absolutely Trump.  Any doubts, read Dick Morris’ book.  Trump is THE man the devil and establishment, the deep state, all hate, and fear!  President Trump is the wrecking ball we have needed and still need to help save America.  All that he did to bless America DESPITE all the opposition, should never, ever be undermined or forgotten. – Susan
  • No longer will I support Trump; the Democrats want him to run since it would guarantee a Democrat win……Trump nailed his coffin shut when he nastily not criticized DeSantis and Younkin. – Karen
  • As much as I like former President Trump, I do not believe that he can ever win again and would hate to end up with another Democrat administration! I am very impressed with Governor Ron DeSantis and how well he did in Florida, he is truly the best of all 50 Governors and would be the strongest candidate to win the Presidency, therefore I will support DeSantis. My 2nd choice would be Governor Abbott of Texas.  Either one would be our best choices to win the White House. – Elliot
  • Trump did a great job as president, but I don’t like him running down other republicans in public.  He should talk to them privately.  His loudmouth gets him in trouble, but he did wonders for this country. I will vote for DeSantis if he runs. – Doreen

And here is what readers said about Mike Pence:

  • My question about Mike Pence is why he did not do the right thing in not certifying the vote in 2020. He could have done that constitutionally (he said no but scholars say YES) … He also has endorsed liberal RINOS such as McCarthy, McConnell, etc. My first choice for now is Donald Trump. Second choice would be Ron DeSantis. – Joyce
  • I have avoided watching, reading, or listening anything about Mike Pence ever since he began “leading” the Covid response team. He did a horrible job, along with Fauci and Birks, allowing Fauci to take over the lives of Americans. We have suffered greatly because of Pence’s “leadership”! Some things I gleaned from this interview: He mentioned uniting the country. This country can never be united when the far left is taking us toward Communism if we aren’t already there. He thinks our country is in a “better” state now than it was in 2016? Did he say that with a straight face? He was “loyal” to President Trump? Really??? As governor, he caved to the LBGTQ agenda; is that governing? I don’t think so! I am very disappointed in Ainsley; I thought she was better than to sit there and praise Pence. The others I knew would, but she surprised me. President Trump is the ONLY person who can get our country back on track, and that will be a huge job after what Biden (his handlers) has done to us. We need him, and my votes will be for him! – Pat
  • He made a good foil for Trump. But he’s a gutless bore. He played the straight man to Trumps tough, edgy construction guy but I think Trump could find somebody a lot better. Someone who is well spoken and interesting to listen to would not be hard to find. Pensive was never that guy. Trump had a knack for getting to the heart of issues. He surrounded himself with great people. Rational, Brilliant, leading thinkers with something to say are what we want in our government. Mamby pamby puppet politicians belong in the dummy dumpster. People like Adam Shifty, Joe Biden and yes Mike Pence. I don’t care if they have a conscience or don’t have a conscience and I don’t care whether they are wise. If they aren’t self-actuating people of action, If they are just Pawns… Unable to be successful independently, in government for their free lunches… they need to let go and get out. I don’t remember Steve Jobs keeping his ear to the ground to see what people liked. I wouldn’t try to get an idea past Elon musk that was wrong. We don’t need politicians who give us everything we want and platitudes for those who know better. – Al
  • I so agree with all of them. I would NEVER vote for Mike Pence. He is not a stand-up guy, in my opinion. We need President Trump. I believe he is the only proven person who could help make the United States great again and renew our respected position in the world. President Trump may say some things that are occasionally not beneficial (and maybe even incorrect or ill-advised or controversial or stupid), but his policies and actions help us all. And I believe he loves our country and cares for all our people. Yes, I believe Gov. DeSantis is a good guy, but we need President Trump first to clean up the mess! – Karen
  • Mike Pence has been a big disappointment, and I’m not just referring to January 6, 2021. Pence would never get my vote nor votes from many others who know about him. To say he is a RINO is putting it mildly. – Linda
  • Mike Pence is USING his religion to try and become a candidate. That is the scariest thing ever. Flaunting your religion. I don’t trust him for one second. – Pat
  • Mike Pence is a typical RINO; he is also a turncoat. We don’t need more like him! We need to elect godly leaders that stand for the people they were sworn to serve. He is a spineless RINO!!!! – Curt
  • Mike Pence would be an unknown if it was not for Trump picking him for VP… as a VP he did nothing and, in the end… he did nothing. He is a weak man and not someone who should be on news stations and writing books. He has accomplished nothing. – Joan
  • I was very angry at Mike Pence for a long time. But after watching the interview video I like him. I believe that he puts God first then his family then the constitution. I always thought I would vote for Trump again. But now I think I would vote for Ron DeSantis and Mike Pence if he runs. Trump would be my second choice. I think he did a great job I just think that there is so much anger and hatred toward him that it would be difficult to get anything done. – Diane
  • Great interview by Mike Pence… Very godly perspective and very godly man! – Carin
  • I am not impressed by Pence. First, he doesn’t have the leadership qualities to be a good president, especially compared to Trump. Second, his lack of courage on challenging the electoral college results may very well have cost Trump the presidency. – Bob
  • I have no respect at all for Mike Pence. I don’t care how many Christian interviews he does.  He wavered when he should have acted on January 6th. He basically allowed the January 6th debacle to take root.  Blame for some of what happened lies squarely with him. – Janet
